Making things right, one wagging tail at a time.
Vlogmas is officially here, and I couldnāt think of a more meaningful way to start than with a story Iāve carried on my heart for a long time.
A while back, while my husband and I were dog sitting for my mom, something happened that I wish I could go back and change. Her dog ,her baby , slipped through our fence. One moment he was in the yard, and in the next, he was gone. We searched everywhere, walked the neighborhood, called shelters, checked online⦠but we never found him.
And even though it was an accident, the guilt never left me.
I knew how much she loved him, and I felt responsible. Itās the kind of thing that stays with you.
So this year, when I sat down to plan Vlogmas, I kept coming back to this moment. December is about giving, healing, and making space for joy ā and I knew exactly what Day 1 needed to be.
š The Plan
I decided to surprise my mom with a new puppy not to replace the love she had for her previous dog, because nothing can truly replace that, but to bring some light and companionship back into her home. Something to love. Something that loves her back.
So I grabbed my keys, my camera, and the biggest prayer that this would be exactly what she needed.
š The Puppy Prep
Before picking him up, I went shopping for all the essentials food, treats, toys, grooming supplies. I forgot how much fun (and chaos) puppy aisles can be. I wanted him to have everything he needed from day one.
After that, I picked up the sweetest little face youāve ever seen. Soft, nervous, warm, and curious he melted my heart immediately.
We went home, gave him a bath, and got him all fresh and clean for his big moment.
ā¤ļø The Surprise
Walking through my momās door with that tiny pup was the moment Iād been praying for. Her face⦠Iāll never forget it. Shock, joy, disbelief, and pure love all in one expression. She scooped him up immediately like sheād known him forever.
And in that moment, the heaviness Iād been carrying for so long finally lifted.
She wasnāt angry. She wasnāt blaming.
She was happy. And thatās all I wanted.
š Starting Vlogmas the Right Way
Vlogmas Day 1 wasnāt just a video it was healing, grace, and giving all wrapped up into one little wagging tail. It reminded me that sometimes the most meaningful gifts are the ones we give from our heart, long before we give them with our hands.
I hope this story brings you the same warmth it brought me.
Hereās to a Vlogmas full of joy, love, and intentional moments that matter.
