Ahoy, fellow adventurers! Join me on a thrilling expedition as my family and I set sail on the Royal Caribbean Voyager of the Seas for an unforgettable New Year’s celebration! Let me take you through the exhilarating Day 1 of our cruise journey.
Morning Departure & Port Adventure: We kick-started our voyage with an early rise and a bustling breakfast stop at Shipley’s in Houston, Texas, before heading to the port. The vibrant energy of Galveston city in the early hours welcomed us with a lively atmosphere, setting the stage for an exciting day.
Port Arrival & Unexpected Hurdles: Upon arrival at the port, a last-minute change meant a bus transfer to the alternate terminal. A minor hiccup emerged when we realized a mix-up with Xavier’s birth certificate. Quick action and technology saved the day as my friend provided the needed document digitally, ensuring a smooth boarding process.
Boarding the Ship & Accommodations: Finally stepping onto the Voyager of the Seas, we received our key cards and settled into our rooms. The boys occupied an internal cabin, while my husband and I opted for a balcony room. Though compact, the balcony room offered an immersive view of the ocean, compensating for the cozy space.
Exploration & Ship Amenities: Our ship exploration began, unveiling an array of amenities – from dining options and shops in the Promenade to thrilling recreational activities like basketball, ice-skating, swimming, and more on the rooftop. We savored the buffet, attended bingo, and marveled at the ship’s vibrant atmosphere.
Elegant Dinner & Celebratory Start to New Year: The highlight of the night was our first elegant dinner, an opulent affair with white linens and a delectable three-course menu. Indulging in a Caesar salad, beef Wellington, and an Italian chocolate mousse cake, we savored every flavorful bite. We culminated the evening by toasting to the New Year with a spectacular balloon drop and a vibrant countdown.
